Hi! I’m Jennifer Matthaei Cottrell, Yoga Therapist – IAYT Certified, E-RYT 500, YACEP, Certified Zentangle® teacher, and Reiki Practitioner. I invite you to join me on your spiritual, artistic, or culinary journey…..maybe all three!!
As a high school sophomore, I began what would turn out to be a life-long relationship with Yoga. It started as a PE class, which was quite unusual in 1975, and continued on and off through the next 30 years. In 2008, I decided to deepen my spiritual journey by taking a 200 hour certification program during which I fell in love with the practice. I began teaching, studying meditation facilitation, and Ayurvedic wellness counseling, and achieved a 250 hour certification in each discipline. Because of my love for yoga, I continued to pursue certifications for Radiant Child Yoga, and Trauma Informed Yoga. As my spiritual practice continued to deepen, I decided to go for a 500 hour certification…and now, after over a 1000 hours of training, I am a Yoga Therapist, which allows me to use all of these modalities to assist people live their best life.
As long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with arts and crafts of all kinds. It started with knitting as a four-year old, continued to embroidering at six, and at the ripe old age of ten I was attending Nevertheless Art School at the College of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois. It seems there is no craft that I haven’t enthusiastically pursued, or at least tried. This includes basket weaving, broom-making, crewel, crocheting, cross-stitching, drawing, needlepoint, painting, pine needle basket weaving, quilting, rust-dyeing, spinning, stained glass, and weaving, to name but a few. In 2011, I discovered Zentangle®, and knew immediately that it would be a perfect outward compliment to my inward spiritual journey, as well as feeding my insatiable need to do something artistic! In 2013, I became a Certified Zentangle® Teacher, I have attended numerous workshops, and enjoy meeting like-minded travelers. I absolutely love the way that Zentangle® contributes to my daily meditation practice!
If you check my calendar, you will see that I maintain a busy teaching schedule, which includes multiple weekly Yoga classes, as well as Zentangle® sessions for Life Long Leaning, private parties, and other special events.
